Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, has reserved ruling until November 13, 2025, on the no-case submission filed by former Acting Accountant General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku.
Nwabuoku is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on amended nine-count charges involving money laundering and diversion of N868,465,000 (Eight Hundred and Sixty-eight Million, Four Hundred and Sixty-five Thousand Naira).
During Monday’s proceedings, Nwabuoku’s counsel, N.I. Quakers, SAN, informed the court of his readiness to adopt the no-case submission filed earlier on behalf of his client. He formally adopted both the written submission and the reply on points of law after obtaining the court’s permission.
The prosecution, led by Ekele Iheanacho, SAN, sought to withdraw one of two responses previously filed, specifically the response dated July 16, 2025. With no objection from the defense, Justice Omotosho struck out that earlier response and accepted the valid EFCC response dated October 23, 2025, in which the commission urged the court to dismiss Nwabuoku’s no-case submission.
Following arguments from both sides, the judge reserved ruling, giving November 13, 2025, as the date for the court’s decision on the matter.
