The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, wanted over allegations of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, November 6, 2025, and signed by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency said Sylva is wanted in connection with funds allegedly diverted from the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for refinery construction.

According to the EFCC, the case borders on “Conspiracy and Dishonest Conversion of $14,859,257” — funds believed to have been fraudulently diverted during Sylva’s tenure as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. The notice stated that the warrant for his arrest was issued by the Lagos State High Court.

The EFCC urged anyone with useful information on his whereabouts to contact any of its zonal offices across the country or report to the nearest police station and other security agencies.

Dele Oyewale emphasized that the public’s cooperation is crucial to ensuring accountability and upholding the rule of law.
