The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has stepped up its counterterrorism and counter-banditry operations across the country, launching a new wave of precision airstrikes that have decimated terrorist and criminal enclaves in several northern states.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the latest coordinated air missions mark a decisive phase in the military’s ongoing joint campaigns — Operation HADIN KAI in the Northeast and Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the Northwest.
The Air Force confirmed that Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters were neutralized in targeted strikes on Mallam Fatori and Shuwaram in Borno State, two key hideouts known for housing extremist cells.

Similarly, air raids in Garin Dandi and Chigogo, Kwara State, and Zango Hill in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, destroyed several bandit enclaves, disrupting their operational bases and logistics networks.
Air Commodore Ejodame described the operations as part of a renewed strategy guided by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, who directed the force to intensify intelligence-driven missions and deliver “purposeful lethality” against insurgents.
“The operations represent a decisive phase in ongoing joint operations under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation FANSAN YAMMA, aimed at terrorist and criminal networks across Nigeria’s northern theatres,” the statement read.
“Each mission reaffirms NAF’s resolve to project smarter and intelligence-driven airpower to project purposeful lethality against insurgents and criminals while protecting the lives and properties of citizens towards enhancing national security.”
The Air Force said the recent successes across Borno, Kwara, and Katsina States underscore its renewed operational tempo and growing reliance on intelligence-led precision strikes to dismantle threats.
Security analysts note that the expansion of coordinated operations under NAF’s command could signal a strategic shift towards sustained aerial dominance against insurgent and bandit forces — a move expected to reduce their mobility and capacity to terrorize rural communities.
NAF reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilian lives and ensuring lasting security across Nigeria’s northern regions, emphasizing that the ongoing missions will continue until terrorist and criminal networks are completely neutralized.
