A civic accountability organisation has exposed yet another abandoned government project in the Federal Capital Territory, revealing that N100.5 million was paid to a contractor in August 2025 for the construction of the Karasana Community Road in Mabushi, AMAC, but the project remains completely undone nearly a year later, with no construction equipment or personnel ever sighted at the site.

Tracka, a BudgIT Foundation platform, disclosed the development in a post shared on its official X handle on Thursday, July 2, 2026, calling on the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the implementing agency, to provide the public with details of how the funds disbursed for the project were utilised. According to Tracka, the contract for the 0.6-kilometre road was awarded to FAECH NIG LTD in August 2025, with the sum of N100.5 million paid to the contractor.

However, when Tracka's team visited the site to track the project's progress, they found no evidence of any construction activity. Residents of the community confirmed that the road has remained in its original deplorable state, with no work ever having commenced on the project. The poor road conditions have negatively affected transportation and access to schools, healthcare facilities, and main markets, leaving residents to endure constant distress over the state of the road.

The Karasana Community Road is one of several infrastructure projects in the FCT that have been abandoned despite the release of funds. A recent Tracka report revealed that federal government projects valued at approximately N219 billion were not executed in 2024 despite the release of funds. The report, which tracked 2,760 projects across 28 states, found that 28.8 per cent of the tracked projects were never executed. The report also flagged 92 projects valued at N15 billion as fraudulent.

The abandonment of the Karasana Community Road project is particularly concerning given its importance to the local community. The road is a critical link for residents of the Mabushi area, providing access to essential services and economic opportunities. The failure to execute the project, despite the release of funds, underscores the disconnect between government promises and the realities faced by ordinary citizens.

Tracka's exposé has sparked fresh outrage on social media, with many Nigerians demanding answers and accountability from the government. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has yet to issue a response to Tracka's allegations. The ministry is responsible for implementing agricultural and rural development projects across the country, and questions are now being raised about its oversight of contractors and project execution.

As the call for accountability grows louder, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is under pressure to respond to the allegations and explain what happened to the N100.5 million meant for the Karasana Community Road project. For the residents of Mabushi, the question remains: will they ever see the road they were promised, or will their tax money continue to disappear into the pockets of unscrupulous contractors?
