The Delta State Police Command has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mieyebo Victor Foupade, and a female accomplice, Mrs Tope Omolola Comfort, over allegations that they conspired to circulate nude videos of the officer's wife and issue repeated threats to her life. The arrests, which took place over the weekend, followed a formal petition to the Inspector-General of Police by the victim, Kehinde, who accused her husband of sustained domestic abuse, online harassment, and a coordinated campaign of humiliation.
According to police sources, the female suspect was arrested on Saturday, July 11, 2026, while the officer was subsequently taken into custody by the Ughelli Area Command. Both suspects are currently in detention as investigations continue. The case drew public attention after the victim petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, seeking intervention and protection. She alleged that despite reporting the matter to the Ughelli Area Command, no decisive action was initially taken to halt the alleged circulation of the videos or address the threats against her.
The complainant alleged that the marital crisis began in April 2026 when her husband's behaviour suddenly changed, becoming aggressive and volatile. She recounted that the situation escalated after the officer allegedly used her mobile phone without her knowledge and later accused her of maintaining inappropriate conversations with another man. According to the victim, her husband then contacted her family, demanding money for her to leave their matrimonial home while making accusations of infidelity.
In a disturbing twist, the victim alleged that her husband enlisted the assistance of a female associate, Omolola Tope Comfort, to continue humiliating her and sharing her nude videos across various platforms. Evidence and voice recordings reviewed by investigators captured discussions between the two suspects on plans to continue tormenting the victim. In one of the voice notes allegedly sent by the officer to his accomplice in Yoruba, he was heard discussing plans to continue to embarrass his wife, adding that they should continue tormenting her until she died, and that her family would eventually transport her corpse from Lagos.
The victim further alleged that she had been subjected to prolonged domestic abuse, repeated threats to her life, and that her nude videos were circulated without her consent. She also claimed that her husband's actions caused her to inadvertently injure her seven-year-old child due to the emotional pressure she was under. According to police sources, investigators acted after the allegations attracted widespread public attention. However, the sources further disclosed that there have been attempts by some police officers and individuals to persuade the complainant to abandon the matter and settle it privately.
The police officer, said to be from Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, has not issued any public statement addressing the allegations. As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the arrests or the status of the investigation. The allegations remain under investigation, and no court has convicted either of the suspects.
The case has renewed concerns about digital privacy violations, online harassment, and the protection of individuals who report abuse involving persons in positions of authority. Under Nigeria's Cybercrime Act, the unauthorised distribution of intimate images may constitute a criminal offence, depending on the circumstances and evidence presented. The case also comes amid growing calls from civil society groups and rights advocates for stronger accountability mechanisms when complaints involve security personnel. They have continued to urge authorities to ensure that investigations are transparent and that victims receive adequate protection.
