A suspected family member of terrorists, 45-year-old Mrs Yaganama Abdul, has surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army alongside her two young children in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State. The surrender, which occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026, marks another significant breakthrough in the military's sustained counter-insurgency campaign in Nigeria's North-East, as internal fractures within terrorist groups continue to drive fighters and their families to abandon their enclaves.
