The Joint Task Force South-East, Operation UDO KA, has officially declared a notorious commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, wanted, placing a N30 million bounty on his head as security forces intensify their campaign to dismantle criminal networks in the region. The wanted individual, identified as Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, popularly known as “Gentle The Yahoo,” has been described by the military as a threat to peace in the South-East, with residents urged to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in locating him.
A wanted notice circulated by the task force displayed Okorienta's photograph alongside the messages “Give Peace a Chance” and “No Violence, No Criminality in the South East.” The notice stated that a reward of N30,000,000 awaits anyone who provides credible information leading to his capture. Members of the public with information were advised to contact security authorities through 193 or 0806 795 9570, with assurances that information could be provided anonymously. The military also warned residents not to confront the suspect themselves but to immediately pass any information to the security authorities through the designated channels.
The declaration comes amid intensified security operations in the South-East targeting individuals suspected of involvement in violent and other criminal activities. Okorienta is believed to be a high-profile commander of the IPOB/ESN, a group that has been blamed for a series of violent attacks in the region. The declaration also follows a previous incident in which the Defence Headquarters debunked a viral video claiming that troops had captured “Gentle The Yahoo.” The latest development signals a renewed push by security forces to bring him to justice.
