
Governor Alex Otti, OFR, has applauded the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) for designating Aba as the industrial growth hub of the South East, describing the recognition as a well-deserved testament to the city’s role as Nigeria’s engine of local enterprise.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the NIPSS leadership team, Governor Otti assured the Institute of his administration’s full support to drive industrial expansion, while pointing to ongoing initiatives already transforming Aba’s economic landscape. He cited the Export Growth Lab in Aba and the revitalized management of the Enyimba Shoe and Garment Factories as key steps aimed at unlocking the city’s industrial potential.
According to the Governor, Aba’s creativity and resilience in trade and manufacturing make it a natural hub for local production, not only for Abia but for the entire South East. He pledged that his government would continue to strengthen partnerships that promote job creation, export opportunities, and sustainable economic growth.
The NIPSS delegation, led by former Senate President Senator Ken Nnamani and the Institute’s Director-General, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, praised the ingenuity and innovation of Abians. They affirmed that Aba’s vibrant industrial base represents the true heartbeat of Nigeria’s local content drive.
“Aba has shown what creativity, determination, and enterprise can achieve,” Prof. Omotayo stated, emphasizing that the Institute will continue to support policies that harness the city’s unique capacity to power the nation’s industrial future.
The recognition further positions Aba as a critical player in Nigeria’s push for economic diversification, with both the state government and NIPSS aligning efforts to make the city a benchmark for local industrial growth.
