Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has reportedly advised her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, against contesting in the 2027 presidential election, citing the immense pressures associated with governing Nigeria.
Speaking in a recent interview, she said, “The stress of Nigeria is so much. If God has managed to bring you through it once, you should glorify God… He has taken you there once, why do you want to go there again? I won’t go o.”
Goodluck Jonathan served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015, assuming office after the sudden death of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and later winning election in his own right. His tenure was marked by efforts to improve the nation’s economy and infrastructure, but also faced significant challenges, including security crises and economic pressures.
Her remarks, credited to TVC News, highlight the personal considerations and family concerns that often accompany high-stakes political ambitions in Nigeria.
