In a decisive move against cultism and drug trafficking, operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu Ukwu, acting on credible intelligence, raided a notorious black spot at 7th Mile, Ogidi, Idemili North LGA on 12th August 2025 at about 2:30 pm.
During the operation, police arrested six suspects, including a female, and recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol without a magazine along with quantities of illicit drugs, including Mkpuru Mmiri (crystal meth).

Police Chief Commends Swift Action
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, praised the operatives for their professionalism and quick response, assuring the public that the Command will sustain its offensive against cultism, drug trafficking, and related crimes in the state.
“This operation is part of our ongoing strategy to rid Anambra of criminal elements. We will not relent in our mission to make the state safer for all,” the CP said.
Next Steps
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be charged to court upon its conclusion.
