The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in partnership with stakeholders in Kosofe Local Government Area, has organised a community awareness walk against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) along Ogudu Road, Lagos.
The awareness campaign, which commenced from the Area Office, Ogudu Roundabout, was designed to sensitise residents on the dangers of SGBV, encourage timely reporting of cases, and introduce the newly established DSVA Sub Office in Kosofe to the community.
Participants carried banners and placards with strong messages condemning gender-based abuse, while engaging members of the public in interactive discussions on prevention and support services available to survivors.
Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, represented by the Head of Community Engagement Department, Mr. Damilare Adewusi, reaffirmed the Agency’s mission of ensuring a Lagos State where every resident can live free from violence and discrimination.
“Sexual and Gender-Based Violence is not just a private issue but a societal concern that requires collective action,” Adewusi stated.
The sensitisation walk also featured the active participation of NYSC Corps Members serving in Kosofe LGA, alongside DSVA staff who distributed educational materials and mobilised community members.
The campaign concluded with a strong call to action for residents to take a stand against abuse, speak up, and use available support channels. The DSVA toll-free helpline 08000-333-333 and the Kosofe sub-office hotline 0903-343-5494 were shared as direct avenues for reporting and swift intervention.
The DSVA reiterated its commitment to promoting community-led initiatives as an effective strategy for combating SGBV, fostering safer communities, and ensuring justice for survivors.
