Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Dragged to Court for Blocking Lawyer on X

A Lagos-based lawyer, Festus Ogun, has filed a lawsuit against Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for allegedly violating his right to freedom of expression after being blocked on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Ogun revealed that the governor blocked him on the platform about three years ago, a decision he described as an infringement on his civic and constitutional rights as a Lagos resident.

He told the court that the action has caused him emotional distress and limited his ability to engage with the governor’s public communications online.

Despite the strain, the lawyer clarified that he is not seeking financial compensation. Instead, he asked the court to order Sanwo-Olu to unblock him and tender a public apology.

“My request is simple,” Ogun stated. “Just unblock me.”
