Aisha Yesufu Challenges Tinubu Supporters, Accuses President of Suppressing Evidence

Published on 30 August 2025 at 08:30

Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has taken a swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his supporters, accusing them of attempting to silence criticism rather than addressing pressing national concerns.

In a post on social media, Yesufu dismissed claims circulating online that Tinubu had not sued her, asking rhetorically what grounds such a lawsuit would be based on — whether alleged incompetence, electoral irregularities, or governance failures.

Contrasting Tinubu with Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Mr. Peter Obi, Yesufu argued that while Obi urges Nigerians to “go and verify” facts, Tinubu allegedly resorts to using the courts to block evidence that could damage his reputation.

She stressed that supporters of Peter Obi, herself included, are unafraid of evidence being presented publicly, unlike what she described as Tinubu’s camp’s tendency to avoid scrutiny.

The comments have since stirred heated debate online, with political supporters on both sides weighing in on her remarks.
