The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another milestone on the global stage as Commissioner of Police (CP) Olubode Ojajuni clinched victory in the election for membership of the INTERPOL Africa Committee.

The election, which took place during the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, earned Nigeria its fifth seat on the Committee with a two-year tenure.

The INTERPOL Africa Committee plays a crucial role in advising the African Regional Conference, facilitating its sessions, and identifying strategic crime priorities across the continent. It also fosters cross-border police cooperation, promotes best practices, and develops projects to boost regional and continental security.

This development underscores Nigeria’s growing leadership in global law enforcement, particularly in combating transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging threats. With CP Ojajuni’s election, Nigeria is expected to continue shaping regional and global policing strategies under the INTERPOL framework.

Reacting to the feat, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, congratulated CP Ojajuni and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and international collaboration. He further pledged sustained engagement with global partners to enhance peace and security worldwide.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, fCAI, from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on 29th August, 2025.
