Seven Killed in Southern Kaduna Attack as Amnesty Calls for Justice

Published on 31 August 2025 at 08:34

Tension has gripped southern Kaduna following a deadly attack on Unguwan Rimi village in Kamaru ward of Kauru Local Government Area, where seven victims of the assault were laid to rest today.

The incident, which occurred on August 24, 2025, left homes destroyed, several people injured, and many displaced. Residents have raised concerns over the recurring violence in the area and the absence of timely security intervention.

Rights group Amnesty International condemned the killings, describing them as part of a disturbing pattern of attacks in rural communities. The organisation said security forces had repeatedly failed to respond to warnings or arrive on time during such incidents, leaving villages vulnerable.

Amnesty urged Nigerian authorities to launch an independent investigation into the killings and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
