Governor Ademola Adeleke on Friday chaired a late-night State Executive Council meeting where major policy reviews and new implementation directives were issued across several ministries and agencies.

The meeting assessed progress in critical sectors, reviewed endorsements of the administration by citizens, and approved new measures to strengthen governance and service delivery.

Governor Adeleke commended the growing support from communities and interest groups, noting that his administration’s performance rating remains high among Osun residents. He urged council members to stay focused on delivering democratic dividends despite prevailing challenges.

On infrastructure, the Governor disclosed that the Ministry of Works is intensifying efforts to complete major projects on schedule, including the Ilesa dualisation, Ile-Ife flyover, Oke-Fia/Lameco flyovers, and the Iwo dualisation.

He also directed the Commissioner for Energy to draft an implementation plan for the newly passed State Electricity Market Law, including collaboration with the National Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Addressing recent developments in Ipetumodu, where a traditional ruler was jailed abroad, Adeleke instructed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to take appropriate action.

In the technology sector, he praised the Imole Wifi Initiative but demanded faster execution of the state’s ICT and Tech Innovation policies. He also mandated the development of a roadmap for applying Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain technologies in the state.

On agriculture, the Governor ordered immediate rollout of the Statewide Youth Agropreneurship Project across all local governments, while in sports, he urged swift legislative processing of bills establishing the Osun Sports Commission, the Police Trust Fund, and the Sports Development Fund.

Governor Adeleke further called for developmental blueprints from each local government aligned with the state’s agenda. He tasked the Chief of Staff and Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to work with ALGON to make this a reality.

Other directives included a review of the Imole Youth Corps programme for quality assurance, and renewed focus on climate change initiatives that are already attracting national and international recognition.

The Governor also stressed the importance of collecting governance data to document achievements as elections approach, directing the state statistics agency to align with modern best practices.

Following extensive deliberations, the council approved the Governor’s address as its resolutions. It also constituted a high-powered committee to address manpower gaps in health and education, approved the elevation of several minor chiefs, and ratified the appointment of Prince Adeleke Saheed Adeyemi as the new Olokusa of Okusa in Egbedore Local Government.

The session underlines the Adeleke administration’s push to sustain development momentum while positioning Osun State for broader recognition in governance, technology, and social development.
