The ancient city of Zaria has been thrown into mourning following the passing of the Wamban Dawakin Zazzau, Alhaji Aminu Pate, who died on Wednesday night and was laid to rest on Thursday according to Islamic rites.
Family, friends, traditional rulers, and well-wishers gathered at the family house in Zaria to condole with loved ones over the death of the respected elder statesman, described as a dependable companion, father figure, and pillar of unity whose life embodied service to Allah, devotion to community, and kindness to humanity.
In a heartfelt tribute, a family member described the late Pate as a man of integrity and generosity whose impact on countless lives will never be forgotten. “His absence has left a painful void in our family and in the Zazzau Emirate. Yet, we are comforted by the memories of his purposeful life and enduring faith,” he said.
The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, alongside former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, members of the traditional council, religious leaders, and several dignitaries, were among those who visited the family house to offer prayers and words of encouragement.
As prayers were offered for the repose of his soul, mourners called on Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus, while also strengthening the bereaved family with patience to bear the irreparable loss.
The legacy of Alhaji Aminu Pate, the Wamban Dawakin Zazzau, is one that will remain etched in the hearts of his family, community, and all who knew him.
