The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has officially launched the Measles Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign at Lagos House, Ikeja. Supported by the Governor’s Spouses Forum and the Centre for Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions, the initiative aims to protect children and eliminate preventable diseases across the state.

The campaign, set to commence in January 2026, will provide free MR vaccines at all government health facilities and school-based vaccination posts in Lagos State. During the launch, stakeholders discussed strategies for effective implementation, highlighting the importance of widespread community participation to ensure maximum coverage and protection for children.

Health experts note that the campaign represents a significant step toward reducing child mortality and preventing outbreaks of measles and rubella, diseases that remain major public health concerns. By combining government support with community engagement, Lagos State is positioning itself as a model for proactive immunization and child health interventions.

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being of its youngest citizens and promoting a healthier, more resilient population in the long term.
