Troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested two individuals posing as police officers and intercepted vehicles carrying large quantities of cannabis in Taraba State. The operation took place in Wukari Local Government Area.

Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, revealed in a statement on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, that the suspects, identified as Monday George and Ezeugo Destiny Uche, were dressed in mobile police uniforms at the time of arrest.

The troops recovered two Toyota Hilux vehicles loaded with a total of 1,134 blocks of cannabis. According to the statement, while one group was apprehended, the occupants of the second vehicle fled upon sighting the military personnel, abandoning their vehicle and its illicit cargo.

The successful operation highlights ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army and NDLEA to curb drug trafficking and criminal impersonation in the region. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that criminal activities, including illegal drug distribution, are met with decisive action.

This seizure also underscores the importance of coordinated security operations between military and law enforcement agencies to safeguard communities and prevent the spread of illicit drugs across the state and beyond.
