Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has affirmed his administration’s resolve to protect lives and property, vowing that no part of the state will serve as a safe haven for criminals, including kidnappers. The statement followed a security council meeting on Tuesday night in Ilorin.

In response to the recent attack at Oke Ode, Governor AbdulRazaq immediately briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, requesting additional federal deployment to dismantle criminal hideouts. Acting on this, the Army Headquarters reassigned the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2nd Division to Ilorin, strengthening security operations across the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq highlighted recent joint operations by the Army, DSS, and Police along the Kwara–Kogi border near Baba Sango, which resulted in the neutralization of about 15 armed bandits. These coordinated efforts continued into Tuesday, reflecting the administration’s proactive approach to security. During the State Security Council meeting at Ahmadu Bello House, the Governor integrated state and federal assets into a unified strategy covering both northern and southern parts of Kwara.

Assuring residents of sustained protection, the Governor emphasized that his administration would fully support security agencies. “We will fight insecurity with every resource at our disposal. Kwara will not be a hiding place for criminals. Those seeking to destabilize the state may run, but justice will find them. Kwara belongs to its people, and their peace will be defended,” he stated.

The Governor’s actions reflect a commitment to proactive, coordinated security measures aimed at restoring confidence and stability across Kwara. By integrating federal and state resources, the administration aims to enhance operational efficiency and ensure that communities across the state remain safe from criminal threats.

The move has been welcomed by local leaders and residents, who view the strengthened security measures as crucial for safeguarding lives, fostering peace, and promoting economic stability. Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration continues to emphasize collaboration between state and federal agencies, reinforcing the principle that public safety is a shared responsibility requiring consistent and targeted interventions.

The Governor’s pledge also signals an intensified effort to prevent future attacks, dismantle criminal networks, and ensure that law enforcement agencies operate with sufficient resources and coordination. This comprehensive approach aims to make Kwara State a model of security and resilience, where criminal activities are swiftly addressed, and communities can thrive without fear.
