Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, was on Wednesday night received by a massive crowd of supporters, stakeholders, and APC faithful at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, following his return from an official trip.
The surprise reception turned into a lively celebration as Governor Eno inspected the newly installed aerodrome lighting system, confirming that the airport is now ready for full night operations. “Our airport is back. We can now land at night, and Ibom Air can now land at night,” he assured the jubilant crowd.
Speaking at the event, Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure expansion, announcing plans to increase the state’s road network from 772 kilometres to 1,000 kilometres. He assured residents that contractors would be mobilized during the dry season to deliver on this ambitious target. The governor also lauded the State House of Assembly for approving the supplementary budget, describing it as essential for accelerating ongoing road and capital projects.
On political matters, Governor Eno reiterated that Akwa Ibom is an APC state, urging citizens to register to vote, proudly identify with the party, and spread its message across units, wards, and villages. He emphasized the importance of the ongoing INEC voter registration exercise, noting that “your vote is your strength.”
Governor Eno commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for stabilizing the economy and attracting investors, pledging the state’s continued support. “We must unite behind the President of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The economy is stabilizing, investors are returning, and we must support him to return in 2027,” he said.
He also expressed strong support for Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, ahead of the 2027 elections, urging Akwa Ibom residents to stand firmly behind their leaders to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.
