Uyo, Akwa Ibom State — The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has approved the immediate release of ₦50 billion for payment to contractors whose Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) are ready, in a move aimed at accelerating ongoing infrastructure projects across the state.

Governor Eno gave the directive during an unscheduled inspection of the Ibom Model Farm Project located in Ikot Edibon, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area. He instructed the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service to ensure prompt payment of all verified IPCs at the Accountant General’s office.

According to the Governor, the decision was taken to take advantage of the dry season for construction work, allowing contractors to resume operations immediately and complete key projects without delays.

“It is important that we mobilize contractors back to site now that weather conditions are favourable,” the Governor stated. “Please ensure that the monitoring teams visit all sites and report compliance accordingly,” he directed his Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson.

The Governor’s swift directive underscores his administration’s commitment to timely project delivery and prudent management of state resources. His emphasis on accountability and supervision through monitoring teams reflects a results-driven approach to governance, focused on ensuring value for public funds.

The ₦50 billion payment is expected to inject renewed momentum into state projects, particularly in road infrastructure, public utilities, and agricultural development, as Akwa Ibom seeks to consolidate progress under the Arise Agenda.
