ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to his long-time ally and Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, on the occasion of his 69th birthday, describing him as a dependable friend, brilliant communicator, and patriotic public servant whose career has been marked by excellence and loyalty.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu paid glowing tribute to Dr. Alake’s decades of service to Nigeria, both in journalism and public administration. The President noted that their friendship and professional partnership, which spans several decades, have been characterized by shared commitment to good governance, democratic ideals, and national progress.
The President hailed the Minister for his ongoing reforms in the Solid Minerals sector, commending his visionary leadership aimed at transforming the industry into a major driver of Nigeria’s economic diversification. According to President Tinubu, Alake’s initiatives — including the formal integration of artisanal miners, policy innovation, and foreign investment promotion — are key to achieving the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“On this special day, I pray that Almighty God will continue to bless Dele with good health, wisdom, and strength,” the President stated.
“He has remained a committed, loyal, and outstanding ally for several decades. His steadfastness and unyielding commitment to national development and progress stand him out as a patriot.”
President Tinubu also reflected on Alake’s distinguished journalism career, describing him as a master strategist and communicator who has contributed immensely to the growth of Nigeria’s media and democratic institutions. From his days as Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State to his current ministerial role, Alake has consistently demonstrated vision, discipline, and a drive for excellence.
Political observers note that Alake remains one of President Tinubu’s most trusted allies, playing key roles in shaping public communication strategies and policy direction since the early days of Tinubu’s political journey. His influence in both media and governance circles continues to reflect a blend of intellect, loyalty, and national service.
As the Minister celebrates another year, many within government and civil society circles have joined in recognizing his dedicated service and contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic advancement.
