Abuja – Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, on Saturday responded to comments made by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, concerning the cost of federal road construction projects.
Speaking during an inspection of the Abuja–Keffi highway, Minister Umahi dismissed claims that he was “dancing around” questions about the cost per kilometre of road projects. He maintained his stance on transparency and accountability in public infrastructure spending.
“I won’t join issues with Makinde. I am his senior in governance. He should withdraw his statement that I’m dancing around the question of cost per kilometre. If he wants a debate, I’m ready for him,” Umahi stated.
The Minister, who has been conducting nationwide inspections of ongoing road projects, emphasized his commitment to open dialogue and public scrutiny, asserting that all federal road expenditures are subject to oversight and proper accountability.
