Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally written to the Senate seeking the confirmation of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The nomination of Dr. Doro follows the recent appointment of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro brings over two decades of extensive experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement spanning both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
An accomplished professional, he holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Dr. Doro is also a registered Independent Prescriber and an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with frontline NHS experience across urgent care centres, general practice clinics, and hospital environments. His expertise extends to health systems strengthening, policy reform, and public health advocacy.
Beyond his medical and administrative career, Dr. Doro has been deeply involved in youth mentorship, leadership development, and social impact initiatives, both within the Nigerian diaspora and in local communities across Plateau State.
His nomination underscores President Tinubu’s ongoing effort to assemble a technocratic cabinet with a balance of professional excellence, innovation, and service-driven leadership.
The nomination letter, signed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, urged the Senate to expedite Dr. Doro’s screening and confirmation in view of his potential contributions to national development.
If confirmed, Dr. Doro is expected to bring his multidisciplinary expertise and global healthcare perspective to bear in advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda for sustainable human capital and health sector reform.
