Akure, Nigeria — The Ondo State Government has confirmed awareness of a leaked security memo from the Department of State Services (DSS) warning of a possible terrorist attack in some parts of the state. The document, originally addressed to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, was recently circulated in the media.

In an official statement issued by Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, the government clarified that the leaked memo was part of routine intelligence sharing between security agencies and should not cause public alarm.

“The leaked memo is one of many intelligence reports regularly exchanged among security agencies and the government,” Ajanaku explained. “Such reports help to identify and prevent potential threats and are used in joint security operations to enhance vigilance.”

He reassured residents that the state government, led by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety of all citizens.

“The public can rest assured that these intelligence reports are being acted upon,” the statement noted. “All necessary precautions are being taken to ensure safety and prevent any form of attack.”

The commissioner urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security personnel, particularly in border communities where extra security measures have been intensified.

“Ondo State remains one of the safest in the country,” Ajanaku emphasized. “We appeal to residents to go about their normal activities, avoid spreading panic, and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.”

He further cautioned against taking the law into one’s hands and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the state.
