Senator Dino Melaye has openly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, condemning what he describes as a mockery of Nigeria’s extant laws and abuse of office.
Speaking recently, Melaye questioned the President’s authority to review recommendations from the Council of State, asserting that such powers do not reside with the presidency. He emphasized that if a review was necessary, it should have been initiated by the Council itself rather than the President.
The outspoken senator lamented the perceived erosion of legal processes, stating, “Indeed, there was a country,” underscoring his view that the move undermines Nigeria’s institutional integrity.
Melaye’s comments have added to growing public debate on presidential powers, governance, and adherence to constitutional processes in Nigeria.
