The Commandant of the Police Detective College, Enugu, Commissioner of Police Rosemary Collins, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing a special committee to revamp police and other security training institutions across the country.
Speaking during the committee’s inspection visit to facilities in Enugu and Oji River, CP Collins described the initiative as a major morale booster for security personnel, noting that it demonstrates the administration’s genuine commitment to rebuilding Nigeria’s security architecture.
> “This initiative has rekindled our hope and strengthened our resolve to serve the nation with renewed passion and dedication. We are grateful to the President for remembering the security agencies and prioritizing our welfare and training,”
— CP Rosemary Collins stated.
The Commandant further expressed appreciation to the committee’s chairman, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, for his leadership role and support toward the project. She said the ongoing evaluation of training centers across the country would help restore standards and enhance the capacity of officers to meet modern security challenges.
Governor Peter Mbah, who led members of the committee on the inspection tour, explained that President Tinubu’s directive was borne out of his determination to modernize and strengthen Nigeria’s security system.
According to the Governor, the committee’s preliminary findings have revealed that many police and security training institutions are in deplorable condition, requiring urgent renovation, restructuring, and re-equipping to meet present-day needs.
He emphasized that the government’s intervention will not only improve the infrastructure but also ensure a more professional and efficient security workforce.
Governor Mbah assured that the committee will present a comprehensive report to the President, detailing the immediate and long-term steps required to restore the nation’s training institutions to global standards.
The inspection tour, which covered several police facilities in Enugu and Oji River, marks one of the key phases in the federal government’s renewed efforts to reposition the nation’s security sector for better service delivery and national stability.
