A deadly attack by suspected armed bandits, reportedly members of the notorious Lakurawa sect, rocked a Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) outpost in Maje, Bagudo Local Government Area, Kebbi State, leaving residents terrified and fleeing for safety.

During the assault, Deputy Superintendent Sadiq Muhammad lost his life while bravely defending the facility against the heavily armed attackers. Eyewitnesses said the sudden violence caused panic in the community, forcing many to seek refuge in nearby bushes.

Security operatives were swiftly dispatched to the scene to restore order and track down the assailants. “This is a tragic loss for the Service. We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased officer. Efforts are ongoing to ensure those behind this cowardly act are apprehended,” said Salisu Tajuddeen, Public Relations Officer of NCS Kebbi Area Command.

The attack underscores the growing security challenges in North-West Nigeria, where banditry and violent criminal activity continue to threaten the safety of communities despite ongoing efforts by security agencies.
