In a symbolic act of reconciliation and political maturity, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday paid a surprise visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta. The visit comes just days before Fayose’s 65th birthday, marking what many observers describe as the end of years of public disagreement between the two influential figures.
The meeting, which was reportedly warm and cordial, was said to have centered on themes of unity, mutual respect, and forgiveness, drawing attention from political watchers across the country. Both men, once known for their sharp political differences, appeared relaxed as they exchanged pleasantries in what sources described as a “moment of healing and reflection.”
Speaking after the visit, Fayose explained that his decision to visit the former president was deeply personal. “I came to honour the elder statesman and seek his blessings as I mark a new milestone in life,” he said, emphasizing that age and experience have taught him the value of peace and respect for elders.
Political analysts view the visit as more than just a courtesy call — it is seen as a gesture of reconciliation that could inspire broader dialogue and unity within Nigeria’s often divided political landscape.
