The Federal Government has officially flagged off the 2025–2026 wheat dry-season farming season in Borno State, a strategic initiative aimed at boosting agricultural productivity across Nigeria.
The programme targets 80,000 farmers across 16 states, providing them with the support needed to maximize output during the dry season.
Officials project that the initiative will inject over 100 billion naira into the national economy, contributing significantly to food security and the country’s overall economic growth.
The project is financed jointly by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Africa Development Bank, reflecting a strong partnership between national and international development bodies.
The flag-off ceremony was presided over by Minister of Agriculture Abubakar Kyari in collaboration with the Borno State government, underscoring the joint commitment of federal and state authorities to support farmers and strengthen the nation’s agricultural sector.
This initiative is expected to provide a major boost for wheat production in Nigeria and strengthen the livelihoods of thousands of farming families across the country.
