Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has convened a high-level security meeting in Iperu, bringing together heads of security agencies to assess the state’s safety landscape and strengthen coordination as new national and local threats emerge.
The governor, who described Ogun as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states, warned that its stability cannot be taken for granted. He stressed that safeguarding the state requires vigilance, strategy and early preventive actions—especially at a time when insecurity persists across several regions of the country.
Abiodun reminded security stakeholders that “the best time to prepare for war is during a period of peace,” noting that keeping Ogun safe demands continuous evaluation of risks and swift action to prevent potential threats from taking root. Although similar meetings have been held in the past, he said this session was particularly crucial in reinforcing the state’s collective readiness.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security formations to strengthen public safety and maintain an environment where residents, investors and visitors can thrive without fear.
As insecurity escalates nationwide, the core issue for Ogun, experts say, is ensuring that its current calm does not become a false comfort—hence the push for proactive planning rather than reactive crisis management.
