Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has taken decisive steps to strengthen security and restore community-level justice across the state. The governor approved the recruitment of 500 new Amotekun officers, aimed at enhancing law enforcement and safeguarding communities.

In a historic move, he also inaugurated 130 new Justices of the Peace (JPs)—the first appointments in 17 years—reviving the tradition of grassroots justice and local dispute mediation. Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Aiyedatiwa charged the new JPs to uphold integrity, fairness, and peace in their communities, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to its OUR EASE Agenda.

Traditional rulers, security chiefs, clergy, and other community leaders were among the newly appointed officials, signaling a collaborative approach to law, order, and community cohesion. The governor declared that these initiatives are designed to make Ondo State safer and justice more accessible to the people.

This move is expected to improve security on the streets while bringing judicial and mediation services closer to residents, bridging the gap between the government and local communities.
