The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing war against organized crime with the arrest of four members of a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate. Acting on credible intelligence and fortified by advanced digital forensic reconstruction, operatives of the Command’s Jabi, Gwagwalada, and Mabushi Divisions first recovered three stolen vehicles from separate operations. This initial success prompted the Command’s Scorpion Squad to widen the investigation, culminating in the arrest of additional suspects, the recovery of three more vehicles, and the seizure of ₦15,280,000 linked to the criminal network.
The recovered vehicles include a black Toyota Prado SUV (2008 model), a grey KIA Optima (2009), and multiple Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry models traced to various locations within the FCT. Their retrieval was made possible through joint intelligence coordination across the divisions and the Scorpion Squad.
Four principal suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime: Dalhatu Bashiru, an ex-convict; Nwadigo Emmanuel; Uchenna Kalu; and Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, identified as the major receiver of stolen vehicles. Alhaji Adamu was apprehended in Fagge LGA of Kano State with over ₦15 million in cash, believed to be payment for a fresh batch of stolen vehicles intended for cross-border trafficking.
Investigations further revealed that he operates closely with Alhaji Abdulkarim Gabeida Ibrahim, a citizen and resident of the Niger Republic, who oversees the resale of stolen vehicles across the border. He is currently on the run, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him and dismantle the entire network.
All arrested suspects and recovered exhibits remain in police custody as the Command intensifies efforts to track other fleeing members of the syndicate and close all operational loopholes exploited by the criminals.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, has commended the officers for their professionalism and commitment to safeguarding the FCT. He encouraged vehicle owners to install functional tracking systems to support faster recovery in the event of theft. The CP also urged residents to remain vigilant and contribute to ongoing security operations by providing credible information through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938.
