Abuja, – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reinforced its fight against corruption with the inauguration of new heads of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) and the unveiling of a comprehensive Corruption Prevention Strategy at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja.
Commandant General of NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, urged the newly appointed ACTU leaders to lead by example, enforce compliance without fear or favour, and uphold the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability. He emphasized that the new strategy aims to reduce misconduct, promote due process, and reinforce internal discipline across the Corps.
Represented by the Deputy Commandant General (Administration), DCG Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla, CG Audi also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Minister of Interior, Honourable Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in ensuring the Corps maintains a strong anti-corruption posture.
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by Mr. Olusegun Adigun, stressed that corruption undermines service delivery, erodes public confidence, distorts development priorities, and weakens national security. He assured NSCDC of ICPC’s continued partnership in championing preventive measures.
Acting Chairman of ACTU, Commandant Audrey Obeh, described the event as a “transformative moment” and a testament to NSCDC’s dedication to integrity and national development. She said: “The inauguration of ACTU Heads, integrity awards, and unveiling of the NSCDC corruption prevention strategy all demonstrate how we are intentionally strengthening the pillars of accountability within our system.”
The event also celebrated officers and staff who have exemplified integrity and professionalism. Awards were presented to CG Audi as Integrity Champion and Visionary, former ACTU Chairman Remi Ekundayo as Distinguished ACTU Chairperson Emeritus, and several others recognized for outstanding performance and commitment to ethical standards.
Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives from sister agencies, including the Immigration Service, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
This initiative signals NSCDC’s renewed determination to institutionalize anti-corruption measures, strengthen internal accountability, and ensure transparency in the Corps’ operations nationwide.
