Nigerian Army troops of the 1 Division Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully rescued ten women who were abducted in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following a coordinated search-and-rescue operation. The victims were reportedly kidnapped from their farms in Ungwan Nungu on November 29, sparking widespread concern in the community.
Sources familiar with the operation reported that the troops carried out the rescue after several days of sustained tracking and intelligence-gathering to locate the abductors. The breakthrough came at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Friday, when soldiers made contact with the kidnappers, who were in the process of collecting ransom payments from the victims’ relatives.
“The troops engaged the kidnappers with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee,” the sources confirmed.
During the operation, the troops successfully rescued all ten women and recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle, a single round of 9mm ammunition, and ₦1.6 million, which was part of the ransom the criminals had demanded.
The rescued women have been debriefed and safely reunited with their families, while security forces continue efforts to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
This successful operation highlights the Nigerian Army’s ongoing commitment to protecting civilians and combating kidnappings in Kaduna State and across the North-West region. Local authorities have commended the troops for their prompt action and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
