Oyo Police Arrest Two Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Recover 26 Stolen Cows

Ibadan — The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended two suspected cattle rustlers, identified as Abu Muhammed and Aliu Bello, following a swift response to intelligence received at the Iresadu Division. The arrests resulted in the recovery of twenty-six stolen cows, valued at approximately ₦6,250,000, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated policing and community collaboration.

Authorities said the suspects were intercepted at Odojaye via Aganyan, Iresadu, while attempting to conceal the stolen livestock. Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo admitted to their involvement in cattle rustling and provided information on other members of the criminal network. The police are continuing efforts to apprehend remaining suspects and recover additional stolen cattle.

The operation underscores the impact of intelligence-led policing, rapid response, and cooperation with community security agencies in combating criminal activities and protecting livelihoods. The Oyo State Police Command commended members of the public for the timely report that enabled the swift intervention, as well as non-state actors whose assistance contributed to the success of the operation.

DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized that the command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, decisively tackling criminal enterprises, and maintaining law and order across Oyo State.
