ABUJA, Nigeria — Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has dismissed the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Galadima, as part of a minor cabinet reshuffle announced on Monday, February 9, 2026. The change takes immediate effect and was confirmed in an official statement released by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The announcement stated that the decision is part of the administration’s routine review of the composition of its Executive Council in order to “inject fresh ideas, strengthen governance, reposition the executive for improved service delivery and ensure effective implementation of government policies and programmes across the state.” No specific reason was given publicly for Galadima’s removal.
Governor Mohammed expressed appreciation for Galadima’s contributions while in office and wished him success in his future endeavours. A replacement for the outgoing commissioner is expected to be announced in due course, according to the statement.
The governor’s office also reassured residents of Bauchi State of the administration’s ongoing commitment to peace, security and good governance, emphasising that the reshuffle is intended to enhance service delivery rather than signal a shift in policy direction.
Details of who will fill the vacant post have not yet been released, and state authorities have not indicated how the reshuffle may affect internal security strategies in the short term.
