The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the arrest of four suspected criminal collaborators and the recovery of a cache of arms and narcotics in separate intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing terrorism and violent crime in the state.

In a statement issued on February 10, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadeija, the command disclosed that operatives of the Kangiwa Divisional Police Headquarters arrested two suspects along a border axis on February 7 at about 3:00 p.m.

The suspects, identified as Hamza Aliyu and Aliyu Ahmadu, were apprehended for allegedly supplying logistics to suspected Lakurawa terrorists. During the arrest, police recovered 31 parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from the duo. Authorities believe the narcotics were intended either for sale or to support criminal elements operating within and around the border communities.

In a separate but related development, operatives of the command’s Special Tactical Team, working in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, carried out another operation in Bagudo Local Government Area. During that operation, two additional suspects — Sani Bature, also known as “Nage,” and Rabiu Bature — were arrested.

Police confirmed that the operation led to the recovery of one AK-49 rifle, 611 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a locally fabricated charmed bullet-proof vest. The recovered items are believed to have been used in support of violent criminal activities, including banditry and armed attacks in parts of the state.

The Kebbi State Police Command described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and disrupt logistical support systems sustaining terrorist and bandit groups. Intelligence-driven policing, according to the command, has been central to recent operational successes across border communities vulnerable to infiltration by armed groups.

All four suspects are currently in police custody. The command stated that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commissioner of Police Umar Mohammed Hadeija reiterated the command’s commitment to combating terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes. He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance proactive policing and strengthen community safety.

The latest arrests underscore heightened security operations in Kebbi State and reflect broader efforts by law enforcement agencies to contain threats linked to armed groups operating in parts of northern Nigeria.
