Residents of Gbugbu community in Edu Local Government Area, Kwara State, were thrown into panic after armed men reportedly stormed the settlement, firing gunshots and forcing families to flee for safety.
Local sources said the attackers entered the community in the evening hours, discharging firearms and creating widespread fear. Villagers were said to have abandoned homes and sought refuge in surrounding bushes and neighboring settlements as gunfire echoed across the area. Gbugbu lies within the Lafiagi axis of Edu LGA, a region that has in recent years experienced intermittent security challenges linked to armed banditry and rural criminal networks.
