Nigeria’s security architecture has been significantly reinforced in Plateau State following renewed violence in Jos, as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, ordered a large-scale deployment of tactical units to restore order and prevent further loss of life in affected communities.
The directive follows a series of coordinated attacks in Jos North Local Government Area, particularly in Angwan Rukuba and surrounding districts, where gunmen launched assaults on residents, leaving multiple people dead and many others injured. Police authorities confirmed fatalities from the incident, while other field reports suggest that the number of casualties may be higher as search and rescue operations continue in nearby communities.
