Operatives of the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands have arrested a total of 88 suspects, rescued five kidnapped victims, and neutralised four kidnappers during a joint security operation codenamed "Kosaye," which translates to "No Chance." The exercise, aimed at flushing out criminal elements from both states, involved intensive bush combing operations across Ogun, Lagos, and parts of Oyo State.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, disclosed the operational outcomes during a press briefing at the Ogun Police Training College, Iperu, on Saturday, June 27, 2026. He stated that the operation was an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, designed to eliminate banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality from the two states. Ojajuni noted that the operation was generously supported and sponsored by the governors of Lagos and Ogun States.

Speaking to newsmen, Ojajuni provided a breakdown of the arrests, stating that a total of 84 suspects were apprehended during the operation—comprising 75 males and 9 females. However, he clarified that an additional four suspects were arrested separately during the rescue of five kidnapped victims along the Ore–Ogbere Road on Thursday. This brings the total number of arrested suspects to 88. He further disclosed that during the rescue operation, four kidnappers were neutralised.

Ojajuni elaborated on the geographical scope of the operation: "We have cleared the bushes right from Ikeja down to Kara bridge, to Redeem camp, Iseri corridor. We have moved to Owode Egba axis down to Ogere, we have extended to Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu Ode, J4 at the fringe of Ondo state bounded. We equally cleared Epe, Ikorodu, Ogijo and others. We cleared shanties, criminals hideouts and we made arrests."

The CP also noted that the operation was launched in response to a security breach along the J3 and J4 corridors of the Benin-Sagamu Expressway. "On the marching order of the Inspector-General of Police, Operation Kosaye moved in and rescued five victims and in the course of the operation we neutralized four kidnappers, arrested another four aside the 84 other suspects that were arrested across Lagos and Ogun stretches," he said.

Among the items recovered during the operation were arms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action shotguns, English pistols, and locally-made pistols. The police also recovered battle axes, cutlasses, mobile phones, and other incriminating items.

Also addressing the press, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, allayed the fears of residents regarding the presence of bandits in the states. He assured the public that all bushes had been thoroughly searched and that the operation would continue until criminal elements were completely rooted out. "To further clear the doubt of people who have been carrying rumour that bandits have taken over Ogun state and have infiltrated into Lagos state, this is to further clear their doubts that all the bushes have been combed both within Lagos and Ogun," he stated.

Ojajuni called for calm and urged residents not to panic. He advised the public to inform the police immediately if they encounter anyone with gunshot wounds. Both commissioners commended the efforts of the IGP and the governors of Lagos and Ogun States for their unwavering support in ensuring the success of Operation Kosaye. The exercise, which is ongoing, aims to reassure citizens of the safety and security of their communities.
