The Public Education Officer of the FRSC, DRC Shamsudeen Babajo, who confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists, disclosed that preliminary investigations identified wrongful overtaking as the probable cause of the crash. The FRSC has urged motorists to avoid dangerous overtaking and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent avoidable loss of lives on the nation's highways. The identities of the drivers involved in the crash have not yet been established as of the time of filing the report.
This tragic incident underscores the persistent dangers on Nigerian roads, where reckless driving and poor adherence to traffic rules continue to claim lives. The Katsina State Government has yet to issue an official statement on the crash, but residents and road users have expressed grief and called for stricter enforcement of road safety measures.
