The Ekiti State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the disappearance of 19-year-old Dandam Happiness, who has been missing since August 10, 2026, when she left her residence in Ado Ekiti at about 4:00 p.m. for an unknown destination and has not returned. The Police Public Relations Officer for the command, SP Sunday Abutu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday, August 17, 2026, as the family and friends of the young woman desperately appealed to the public for help in locating her.
According to the police, Happiness, who is also identified as Happiness Damdam in some reports, walked out of her home on that fateful afternoon and has not been seen or heard from since. All efforts by her relatives and friends to trace her whereabouts have so far proved unsuccessful, prompting the police to step in and appeal to the public for assistance. "She left her residence in Ado Ekiti on 10th August, 2026, at about 16.00 hours (4pm), to an unknown destination and has not returned since then," the police statement read.
The police have released a detailed description of the missing teenager to aid in her identification. She is approximately 4.5 feet tall, fair in complexion, and has no tribal marks. She is also described as speaking English fluently. The command has urged anyone with useful information about her whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the command directly on the dedicated phone line: 09064050086. The police also appealed to residents to circulate the information widely to assist the family and law enforcement in locating her.
The disappearance of Happiness comes amid growing concerns over the safety of young women in Ekiti State and across the South-West region. While the police have not suggested any foul play, the prolonged silence from the missing teenager has raised anxieties among residents and rights advocates, who have called for swift action to ensure her safe return. The state police command said it had commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
The police spokesperson stressed that the appeal for information was part of the command's efforts to reunite Happiness with her family. In the meantime, her family and friends continue to wait anxiously, hoping that the public will come forward with information that could lead to her discovery.
