The management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has officially debunked a viral notice circulating on social media that directed newly admitted students to appear for matriculation list signing on September 23, 2026. The university described the notice as false and unauthorised, urging students to disregard it and wait for official communication.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Mrs Olayinka Balogun, the university clarified that the institution is currently on break and that no Faculty Office has commenced the matriculation list signing exercise. “The matriculation list signing exercise has not commenced,” the statement read, adding that the actual commencement date would be announced through official channels after the university resumes.
The confusion stems from an official internal memo dated August 24, 2026, which confirmed that the matriculation lists for newly admitted 100 Level and Direct Entry students for the 2025/2026 academic session had been dispatched to the faculties. The memo, titled “Dispatch of Matriculation List for 2025/2026 Newly Admitted Students,” instructed Faculty Officers to ensure that every newly admitted student signs against his or her name. It also required three copies of the completed lists to be submitted to the Registrar’s office “on or before Wednesday, 30th September, 2026.”
However, the university stressed that the September 30 date is strictly the deadline for faculties to submit the completed lists to the Registrar’s Office and does not validate the September 23 date circulating online. The distinction is significant because the August 24 memo confirms the existence of the matriculation lists but does not announce September 23 as the date for students to begin signing them. The university therefore advised newly admitted students to rely only on information released through its official communication channels and to disregard the unauthorised notice circulating online.
LAUTECH assured the affected students that a formal announcement would be made regarding the commencement of the matriculation list signing exercise once the institution resumes from its current break.
