The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed a major political boost with the official defection of Alhaji Aliyu Bello, a seasoned politician and former two-time State Youth Leader as well as one-time State Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State.
Bello’s decamp to the ADC was formally announced today, in a ceremony that attracted notable dignitaries including the Northwest Leader of the Coalition, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, Mallam Jafaru Abbas, Mallam Bashir Sa’idu, Suleiman Ibrahim Dabo, and several other key stakeholders. Their presence underscored the growing influence of the ADC and its ability to draw credible leaders into its fold.
Speaking at the event, ADC’s National Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufa’i, hailed Bello’s decision as a sign of confidence in the party’s vision for Nigeria. He emphasized that the move was not just about one individual but about a wider message—that experienced political actors are beginning to view the ADC as a viable alternative for the country’s future.
Rufa’i further noted that the ADC is positioning itself not as a party of empty promises but as a movement of action, where both young and experienced leaders can work together to build a nation that delivers for all citizens. He described Bello’s entry as a “bold step” that will inspire more Nigerians, particularly the youth, to align with the party’s mission.
The defection highlights the ADC’s growing momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle, with party leaders confident that more high-profile politicians will follow suit in the coming months.
Stone Reporters News gathered that the administration’s focus on exchange rate stability, macroeconomic predictability, and regulatory reforms has reinforced investor confidence, contributing to Nigeria’s rising capital market prominence.
