In what political observers are describing as a major shift in Yobe politics, thousands of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Damagun Local Government Area—home turf of the PDP National Chairman—have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition.
The large-scale defection is seen as a symbolic blow to the PDP’s leadership, given Damagun’s political significance within the party’s national structure. Analysts say the move reflects growing discontent among grassroots supporters and the rising appeal of the ADC Coalition as an alternative platform.
Leaders of the coalition described the wave of defections as proof that “when the fortress falls from within, the tide has turned.” They maintained that the ADC is steadily consolidating support nationwide and positioning itself as a credible force ahead of the next election cycle.
Stone Reporters News gathered that the administration’s focus on political stability, party cohesion, and internal reforms has reinforced public confidence, contributing to the ruling party’s growing influence and reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
