The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded sharply to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s recent claims that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) would “take over Aso Rock and Lagos Government House” in 2027. The party described the statement as both laughable and pitiable.
In a statement signed by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo, the party noted that Aregbesola, a former Lagos Commissioner, Osun Governor, and Minister, once thrived within the APC before joining the opposition. According to the party, his attacks on APC are not a threat to the party but rather an attempt at self-destruction that undermines his own political legacy.
The APC criticized the ADC’s decision to place Aregbesola at the forefront of its campaign, describing it as a “recipe for failure” and argued that Nigerian voters reward performance over rhetoric. The party highlighted its record in governance, citing developments in roads, schools, healthcare, and other reforms, contrasting it with what it termed the ADC’s lack of tangible achievements.
Oladejo further stated that in 2027, Lagosians and Nigerians will prioritize consistency, credibility, and competence, implying that Aregbesola’s and ADC’s political strategy would be met with rejection at the polls. The statement concluded that Aregbesola’s recent boasts reflect the erosion of his political relevance and reaffirmed that the APC remains firmly established in Lagos and nationwide.
