Barcelona forward, Lamine Yamal, has written his name into football history by winning the Kopa Trophy for the second consecutive year.
The 18-year-old clinched the award, which recognizes the world’s best footballer under the age of 21, at the 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on Monday. He is now the first player ever to retain the award since its introduction by France Football in 2018.
Yamal, who turned 18 in July, enjoyed a remarkable campaign with Barcelona, featuring in 55 matches under manager Hansi Flick, scoring 18 goals and providing 21 assists as the club secured a domestic treble—La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa.
On the international stage, he continued to shine for Spain, playing a pivotal role in their run to the Nations League final.
His latest triumph further cements Barcelona’s dominance of the Kopa Trophy, with the club now producing four of the seven winners: Pedri (2021), Gavi (2022), and Yamal in both 2024 and 2025.
In addition, Yamal’s growing trophy cabinet includes the Golden Boy Award, the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year prize, and a spot in the FIFPRO World XI, confirming his status as one of world football’s brightest young stars.
