A 20-year-old Nigerian professional footballer, Chinonso Jeremiah Obi, is in a Lithuanian hospital fighting for his life after being stabbed in an attack that authorities and football officials have condemned as racially motivated. The shocking incident occurred on Tuesday in the southeastern city of Alytus as his club was preparing to travel for a league match, drawing widespread condemnation from sporting bodies and igniting urgent calls for stronger measures against racism in sport and society.
